Edward Quilty– Founder, President & CEO

Edward Quilty is the founder of Aquatic Informatics. Ed has worked in the water industry since 1992 and has specialized in automated monitoring, data management and assessment, and environmental impact assessments.  Prior to founding Aquatics in 2003, Ed was principal of QA Environmental Consulting, a regional firm focused on designing and managing hydrometric networks. Mr. Quilty is a registered professional biologist with the British Columbia College of Applied Biology, is a Director of the Canadian Water Resource Association, is a member of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and the American Water and Wastewater Association.  Ed is also an active member of ACETECH and BCTIA, technology associations focused on rapidly growing British Columbia companies.

Touraj Farahmand, M.Sc. – Chief Technical Officer

Touraj Farahmand is a co-founder of Aquatic Informatics.  He has a strong mathematical background and extensive experience in digital signal processing, computer programming, instrumentation, automation and control for industry and medical applications. Touraj holds a Masters in Instrumentation and Control from the Sharif University of Technology. While working as a manager of the Signal Processing and Software Development of the Electrical and Computer Research Lab, he was responsible for management and development of signal processing algorithms and interfacing software programs for data acquisition, data processing, and monitoring. Prior to joining Aquatic Informatics, he was a Senior R&D Engineer at Vector12 where he was responsible for the development of a new design concept on signal processing algorithms for high-speed semiconductor characterization and production tests.

Alastair Foreman – Vice President, Development

Alastair joins Aquatic Informatics after a diverse career in software development, international education, and outdoor adventure.  Alastair spent nine years at Kodak, and Creo before that, spearheading development of some of its most successful software products for the commercial printing industry.  He has an extensive background in enterprise system architecture, large scale data management, user interface design, and product release strategies.  Alastair is also a certified teacher and spent many years teaching mathematics and computer science at international schools around the world.  Outside of work, Alastair is a father of two, and an accomplished mountaineer, with numerous ascents in North America, Asia, and the Himalayas.

Boudewijn Neijens M.B.A., M.Sc. – Vice President, Marketing and International Business Development

Mr. Boudewijn Neijens, Vice President, Marketing and International Business Development leads Aquatic Informatics’ International growth strategy. He has an impressive track record of European and International sales growth and operational management success.  Mr. Neijens has 25 years of experience in high technology companies, both in Europe and in North America. He was most recently Vice-President of Marketing at Kodak, and previously Corporate Vice-President of Marketing at Creo Inc, one of BC’s most successful high-technology companies. Prior to moving to Canada for Creo, Boudewijn had founded and ran the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations based in Brussels. He has also worked for various European companies in the imaging and printing industries.

David Ferguson, M.B.A. - Vice President, Operations

David has an MBA from the University of Toronto and 12 years of experience in Sales and Marketing with emerging high growth technology companies. David was recently Regional Sales Manager with Digital Payment Technologies where he doubled revenue and built a sales channel for eastern North America. Prior to Digital, he was VP Sales for Pocketop Inc., a Vancouver-based manufacturer of a wireless PDA keyboard. At Pocketop David led an international product launch, opened distribution channels and built a consumer brand on three continents. As a Senior Manager at Medcan Health Management in Toronto, he was responsible for sales, program implementation and account management with TSE 100 clients. David is also a Partner with BC Technology Social Venture Partners and serves on the Board of Chrysalis Society.
